learning & creativity
Creative outlets play a vital role in supporting emotional well-being by offering a safe and expressive way to process thoughts and feelings. Whether through painting, music, writing, or movement, engaging in creative activities can reduce stress, improve mood, and boost self-esteem.
These outlets provide a sense of purpose, encourage mindfulness, and help individuals navigate complex emotions without the pressure of words.
At Artspace, our purpose is to create a welcoming environment where people of all ages can explore their creativity, connect with others, and find joy and healing through hands-on artistic experiences—supporting emotional wellness one masterpiece at a time.

Ruth Grajales
FOUNDER
Ruth Grajales is a well-respected and accomplished teacher with an extensive teaching background in foreign languages, music and art. She has spent over 20 years sharing her passion for the arts with others, and has become a firm believer in their role in enriching education.
Ruth's approach to teaching goes beyond traditional methods. Instead, she focuses on educating the mind, spirit and body to create well-rounded individuals. Her unwavering dedication to fostering a love for creative expression is a testament to her character and passion for helping others find their creative outlets.
Ruth decided to leave the classroom and dedicate her efforts to bringing enrichment programs to the Lombard community. Founded in 2019, Artspace is just the beginning of many programs she wants to offer. Ruth firmly believes that the arts are something that everyone should enjoy and have the opportunity to experience.
That is why Artspace will continue their partnership with Epic Church to provide free arts and crafts on Saturday afternoons.
Three words to describe Artspace? “Exploration, discovery, creation.”

Milton Coronado
Art Instructor
Chicago mural artist, Milton Coronado, started expressing his art when he was in high school through street graffiti, although he admits that it was not always legal. His passion led him to the American Academy of Art in downtown Chicago where he earned a BFA in Illustration and Design.
We’re excited to have Milton join the Artspace family and deliver our Aerosol and Painting classes for the Lombard area.

Kateryna Havrylova
Art Instructor
Hi, my name is Katya and I'm a passionate art instructor and professional artist. With over 5 years of teaching experience, I have been fortunate enough to guide and inspire students in the world of art. What truly captivates me is realism and impressionism in my own artwork.
At artspace, I'll be sharing my vast knowledge on various mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, oil paint, and drawing. Art holds a significant place in our lives as it has the power to be a compelling form of expression.
I strongly believe in the importance of art education due to its numerous benefits. It nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression. By encouraging students to explore different mediums and techniques, my goal is to help them develop their artistic skills while finding their own unique voice.
As an instructor, nothing brings me greater joy than witnessing the growth and progress of my students. I am dedicated to cultivating the next generation of artists by providing them with the necessary tools and encouragement they need to succeed. Art has the incredible ability to inspire, heal wounds, and transform lives; it's an honor for me to embark on this journey with my students.
